New York Personal Auto Customer Relief Refund

​​​​With social distancing and stay-at-home orders, we’re seeing fewer drivers on the road which means a reduction in accidents. With this in mind, last month we announced the Safeco Personal Auto Customer Relief Refund . In addition, New York personal auto customers who purchase a Safeco new business private passenger auto policy between May 1 and May 31, 2020 will also receive a 15% refund on one month’s premium.

Qualifications and details for new business personal auto customers bound between May 1 and May 31, 2020:

  • This refund only applies to private passenger policies. Specialty vehicles, motorcycles, and comprehensive-only policies are excluded.
  • The policy must be both bound as new business and have an effective date between May 1 and May 31, 2020. The policy must be in-force through June 1, 2020.
  • The refund will be delivered in one payment, through the same method as the policy down payment.
    • Payments will be rounded to the nearest dollar
    • The minimum refund amount will be rounded up to $10
    • Refunds will happen automatically; the customer does not need to call and request
  • This refund cannot be used as a down payment toward the policy.
  • The refund will be issued in June.

Qualifications and details for personal auto customers bound prior to May 1, 2020:

  • This refund only applies to private passenger policies. Specialty vehicles, motorcycles, and comprehensive-only policies are excluded.
  • All private passenger auto customers with policies in force on both April 30 and May 31, 2020 will receive two refunds equal to 15% of their monthly monthly premium.
  • Refunds will be delivered in two payments—one for May and one for June—either by check or through the method of their most recent payment.
    • Payments will be rounded to the nearest dollar
    • The minimum refund amount will be rounded up to $10
    • Refunds will happen automatically; the customer does not need to call and request
  • Refunds will be calculated at the end of April and May 2020 and processed the following month.
