With Hurricane Sandy barely in the rear-view mirror, the east coast is in the path of a nor’easter expected to arrive some time today with strong winds, heavy rain and moderate tidal flooding along coastal areas. While this storm may hamper cleanup and recovery efforts and add to the difficulties in the region NOAA does not believe the storm shouldn’t be anywhere near as severe as Sandy.

- 7-day Supply of Medications
- List of Food and Drug Allergies (especially antibiotics)

- Changes of Clothes
- Sanitation and Personal Hygiene Items
- Flashlight
- Battery Powered or Hand Crank Radio
- Extra Batteries
- First Aid Kit
- Multipurpose Tool
- Copies of Important Personal Documents
- Emergency Contact Card (be sure to include an out-of-town contact)
- Local Map
- Emergency Cash
- Photos of Family Members and Pets for Re-identification Purposes
- Extra Keys to Your House and Vehicle
- Plus Any Special Needs Items for Children, Seniors or People with Disabilities.
- Don’t Forget to Make a Kit for Your Pets.
With temperatures dropping in our area over the next few days you should take precautions to prevent pipes from freezing. Also, for those using generators and extension cords to supply power during this time you should take steps to protect your power sources during the impending rain/snow storm to reduce the chance of electrocution and damage.
